2 weeks in and more new features for WPVote

Now that I’m a couple of weeks in there are is an additional stack of new features on the site. These features have been driven by the way that people are using the site, and will hopefully help encourage participation, and reduce abuse.

  • There is a new listing page that displays each individual domain that has been submitted to WPVote. Details on how I set up the custom WordPress Permalinks are on Binary Moon
  • The individual post pages now display the auto generated post thumbnail
  • The RSS feed displays the auto generated post thumbnail and an additional call to action to visit the site and vote. Info on adding custom content to RSS feeds can also be seen on Binary Moon
  • A confirmation checkbox is added to the article submission form, to remind people that they should post on topic
  • Extra meta information about each article has been added to the article description pages

I have more ideas to come over the next couple of weeks. I’ll probably keep adding features for 2 or 3 weeks, and then I will start converting the theme to a standard theme that can be used by anyone. If you have more ideas for features then let me know in the comments. I can’t promise everything will be added but I will certainly listen.

  • Hi,
this is the site I’d like to replace with WPVote:

This site is based on Drupal and I like the way I can easily create Tags and Categorise each post and that each contributor has a profile and photo. Are these features that will be present on WPVote?

  • I’ve just discovered WPVote and I think it’s a fantastic idea. Thanks!
